Character's name: Édouard Durand (He has no given first name, but I would like to give him one for practical purposes)
Series your character is from: Le Chevalier d'Eon
Canon background: Durand is a knight, and accompanies d’Eon de Beaumont in the search for his sister’s murderer. He and d’Eon’s sister worked together as part of Le Secret du Roi.
Personality: Durand is passionate and has a playful, somewhat flirtatious nature; he is kind, cool and composed, but always seems to be stifling something. He is a frequent visitor to pubs, but is not a heavy drinker (or at least, he doesn’t get drunk).
AU Class: Chevalier
AU Background: He has no real background in the anime (and he doesn’t exist in the manga) other than that he is a skilled swordsman, aristocratic (it is assumed he is a Chevalier, though he has no attendants and seems to live at an inn, or possibly from inn to inn…which doesn’t really seem to make sense…but it’s possible it was for safety purposes on the King’s order that he lived like this so that he could always be on the move and to keep the secret du Roi, well, secret), and loved a woman who he worked with in the secret du Roi (d’Eon’s sister, Lia) that was murdered. For the purposes of this RP, I will create the most logical background I can using information from the anime as well as a known member of the real secret du Roi:

Édouard Durand was the second son of a French soldier and diplomat from a highly distinguished French military family. Eager to follow in his father’s footsteps, he served for some years in the army at a young age, and showed much promise as a master swordsman. Afterwards, he became one of the foremost diplomats in the service of the King. After serving as a diplomat to Poland, he was recalled at the outbreak of a war, and was made a chevalier des ordres du roi. Soon following this he became a member of the secret du Roi, the private—as distinct from the official—diplomatic service of the King. He fell in love with another member of the secret du Roi, Lia de Beaumont, but the feelings, unbeknownst to him, were not mutual. After her mysterious and unusual murder, Durand began dedicating his time to solving the riddle of her death. The King, also puzzled by her mysterious death, permitted Durand to uncover the truth about her death lest it threaten His Majesty’s thrown. Slowing uncovering information, he began to learn that Lia was involved with a religious organization and also with another man. His love for Lia started to wilt as he learned more about her, but still under the King’s command to find her murderer, continued his search with a heavy heart. After a year of searching, Durand was still unable to find Lia’s murderer, and the King, giving up hope but feeling confident Lia’s death would not soil his name, released Durand of his duties, but kept him on as one of his secrets in case he should require Durand for another “mission.”
